Comedy prestidigitator Brian Gillis is performing more than what he refers to as "small miracles" these days. Since he has become a favorite of the "The Tonight Show", he is being sought after more than ever to perform at corporate events, banquet shows, comedy clubs, and trade shows throughout the country.
Brian mesmerizes his audiences with his specialty "Situation-Comedy-Magic." His quick humor and good looks accent the showmanship that has brought him both critical and popular acclaim. He does a fast paced, highly active interactive show. It incorporates sophisticated sleight-of- hand magic and mind boggling mental aerobics, precisely timed and punctuated with comedy. His exceptionally likable stage personality has been lauded as the "best in the business" and his performances are not blemished by any off color material. His presentation personally involves a large number of people from the audience and gives the group a common frame of reference that stimulates conversation and social interaction. They usually brainstorm and end up losing sleep trying to figure out how what he does can actually be done.
During his tenure as a high school math teacher in Stamford, Connecticut (where he moved from his hometown of Niagara Falls, NY) Brian borrowed his first book of magic from the local library as a tool to grasp the attention of his students.
Magic was Brians hobby before if became his passion. He accelerated his education as a performer under the masterful guidance of the late Eddie Fechter in Buffalo, NY
When offered a long-term job performing at a club ("Uncle Sams) in Knoxville, TN., he relocated there. He fell in love with the Smokey Mountains and spent five seasons performing at the popular theme park: Silver Dollar City (now Dollywood). After having done over fifty various morning and talk shows in the southeast, he starred on his own television show SPATZ on WTVK, a dance show on which he entertained while co-hosting. Once he got the TV bug, he set his sights in Hollywood. Since then, he has guest starred on everything from episodic television as "My Sister Sam" and the new "Columbo", to national talk and variety shows such as "TV Around The World" for HBO, "Attitudes," "The Joan Lunden Show," etc. Brian just starred in the AFI movie "Trickster" as the title character.
Brian still has a few tricks up his sleeve. He recently appeared in the CS special "Worlds Greatest Magicians From The Magic Castle," he did a customized show for the "Paloma Picasso Magic Tour" and is currently appearing in a series of national television commercials.
