He’s the villain everyone loves to hate. In August of 1997, Kevin Spirtas joined the cast of DAYS OF OUR LIVES as the ruthless and scheming Dr. Craig Wesley, for a two day role. In March of 1998, he returned as the same character, for a 3-year contract. In the short year and a half since his return, Spirtas, along with his co-star Patrika Darbo (Nancy Wesley), not only achieved critical acclaim for their acting and incredible chemistry together, but have also made television history by setting a new standard for the look of daytime romance. Soap Opera Digest has just nominated Kevin Spirtas for BEST VILLIAN of the year, (the winner will be announced March 70, 2000).

No stranger to the world of soap opera, before joining the cast of DAYS, Kevin starred as Hollywood agent "Tim Burke" in the syndicated mini-soap opera, "Valley of the Dolls", based on the novel by Jacqueline Susann, and "Tom Gallagher" in the late night series "Rituals".

Originally, from St. Louis Missouri, at 16, Spirtas begun honing his singing and dancing skills while working at Six Flags Over Mid America theme park. There, at 17, he won the "STAIRWAY TO STARDOM" contest and appeared on the Dinah Shore show.

At 18, after attending college at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, Spirtas headed to New York City. Using the stage name Kevin Blair, he landed his first professional job on Broadway: the role of ‘Mike (I Can Do That) Costa’, in A CHORUS LINE. Spirtas also appeared on Broadway in the role of Warren Sheffield in MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS.

Spirtas has guest starred on numerous television shows including LA HEAT, FIRED UP, SILK STACKINGS and QUANTUM LEAP. In 1996 Spirtas received a Los Angeles Drama-Logue Award (Best Actor) for the role of ‘Nick Brenner’ in Chuck Ranberg’s critically acclaimed comedy, END OF THE WORLD PARTY.

Spirtas has also starred in the films, EMBRACE THE DARKNESS, STRIKING RESEMBLANCE, GREEN PLAID SHIRT, and is featured with Sir Ian McKellen and Brad Renfro in Bryan Singer’s, APT PUPIL. Spirtas is also featured with Olympia Dukakis in the movie made for television; A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN. Spirtas can also be seen in those fantastic cult classic slasher sequels: Wes Craven’s, THE HILLS HAVE EYES II, FRIDAY THE 13th VII, SUBSPECIES II, and SUBSPECIES III.

Dedicated to supporting the growth of new talent, Spirtas returns once a year to his senior high school, Horton Watkins in Ladue, Missouri, to host and perform in the annual ‘Graduate Star Concert’. This concert, founded in 1989 by Spirtas and Jo Anne Smiley (his music teacher and mentor of 30 years) helps raise money for the vocal scholarship fund, and is awarded to graduating students with promising vocal talent at the end of the school year.

KEVinspiring Productions, Spirtas’s production company is developing a romantic comedy he has written for television. He is also working on staging an evening of music to take on the road.

Besides acting, Spirtas loves staying active by running, swimming, snow boarding, and jet skiing. His birthday is July 29.
