Ten years ago, a former entertainer from California came to Las Vegas with the idea for a production show that would feature outstanding performers who would re-create legendary superstars of entertainment, with no lip-synching. In the city where dozens of superstars already appeared onstage in headliner showrooms every night, many said a production show like that could never succeed!

John Stuart, that former entertainer and the producer and creator of "Legends In Concert," went ahead and opened his show at the Imperial Palace on May 5, 1983 even though he was only given a guarantee for a six-week run.

Ten years later, many of the headliner rooms have gone and so have many of the superstars who used to work them. But ‘Legends In Concert" continues to play to sellout crowds as it prepares to enter its second decade of crowd-pleasing entertainment.

Originally the idea was to have talented performers who, through the use of their own uncanny look-alike features, voices and talents, recreate the look, sound and stage essence of superstar entertainers who passed away. Names like Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Janis Joplin, John Lennon, Buddy Holly, Bobby Darin, John Wayne, Al Jolson and Jack Benny lit up the Imperial Palace marquee.

But a few years ago, Stuart expanded the entertainment value of the show by paying
tribute to performers who are present-day superstars. Now, in addition to Presley, Sammy
Davis, Jr., Liberace, Madonna, Prince, Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton, Kenny
Rogers and Paul McCartney headline "Legends In Concert."

In addition to the superstar recreations, the extravaganza has always featured a troupe of outstanding dancers and background singers; a live, onstage orchestra and a full array of incredible special effects including theatrical multi-media and million-dollar lighting, laser and sound systems.

After years of garnering dozens of awards like the International Press Association’s Show of Shows, Las Vegas entertainer Of The Year and Las Vegas Show Of The Year, "Legends In Concert" has gone on to phenomenal success nationally and internationally. It has toured Russia, China, Australia, Canada, Sweden, Mexico, Africa, on Broadway, in forty U.S. cities and soon the Universal Studios Theme Parks in Los Angeles and Orlando and in the magnificent Legends Aloha Showroom in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Honolulu.

Over five dozen performers who capture the essence of the talent, personality and look of those they honor with their portrayal have been assembled by the show’s creator to travel the globe in "Legends" productions that are all spectacularly produced, directed and staged. Because of the wonderful array of legends, who rotate constantly, one can go to the production many times and see a different show each time. Now, ten years after that initial six-week run has turned into highly successful years, John Stuart and his "Legends in Concert" have proven the words of Ian Fleming, spoken through the immortal James Bond, "Never say never!"
