It doesn’t take but a few minutes to recognize that Mara Getz is an artist of unique and seemingly limitless talent. She has an amazing versatility and a distinctive musical style that can range from recording studio work to intimate jazz clubs to broadway stages to the largest European music festivals without missing a beat. A 10-year industry veteran, Getz’ successful career has spawned a chart-topping solo album, honors in National and International music competitions and a loyal legion of fans around the world.

Getz’ career began singing in church at age five where her mother acted as choir director...and she nurtured her talent for singing and acting at many family gatherings while growing up. Wanting to make singing her livelihood, she packed her bags and moved to Los Angeles in 1982.

Within no time Getz was headlining in the local club circuit. Her local acclaim brought her to the attention of talent executives and she soon was appearing on "The Merv Griffin Show" and "You Write The Songs." Americans first recognized this farm girl from Baker, Minnesota as a 1985 finalist on TV’s "Star Search."

Since then, she has headlined her own shows at clubs across the country as well as opened for such legendary entertainers as Bill Cosby, Joan Rivers and George Burns. The summer of ‘86 brought Getz’ first theatrical debut at the Matrix Theatre in Amanda McBroom’s "Heartbeats." This singer/actress won the International Song Competition in Finland and Ireland and at the Sopof ‘86 International Festival in Poland she won the Grand Prix, receiving the top three honors of the Festival, becoming the first American to have done so in 20 years.

In 1988 Getz landed the lead female role in the musical "Mail," which played for a smash season in Los Angeles and then moved on to New York’s Broadway stage. Soon afterwards, Getz was approached by Japan’s premiere record label, Pony Canyon Records. In 1989 her debut album, In Your Eves, was released in Japan, climbing into the Top 20 on the international charts as the album’s title track bulleted to #3 on the single’s chart. Her sold-out tour throughout Japan last June was a testimony to the excitement and popularity the album has created for her.

"Every once in a while, I have the opportunity to experience a thrilling, exciting new talent with unlimited potential. Mara Getz is among that small number of performers destined to climb to the top of the music business. She has the voice, she has the presence and she has the looks. Remember that name: Mara Getz. You’ll be seeing it on album covers, concert posters and record charts very soon," said Back Stage magazine.

"I’m going wherever my path takes me..whatever lessons I have to will always be the expression I choose" said Getz. Today, she has evolved into one of the clearest, purest, most poetic voices of the 90’s. She is currently writing and producing her second album and she continues to bring her talents in both stage and concert appearances to her growing worldwide audiences. And when this woman gets a map in her hands, take heed. You never know where she’ll take you. So if you’re ready to embark on an adventurous and visionary journey down uncharted musical thing is for certain, Getz knows where she’s been and where she’s going. The road to the top should be a short one indeed.
